Why do women carry their "junk in their trunk"

Have you noticed that it seems to be harder for a woman to lose fat than it is for a man' Not only do women find it harder, but the first place they lose weight from is the face and chest, while the last place they lose it seems to be the hips and thighs. Further proof that God is a man right ladies'

Men tend to carry fat around the belly (apple shape) – or commonly referred to as the awning over the cookie shop – big awning big cookies aye guys'' Women however seem to carry it around the hips and thighs (pear shape).

The reason for this goes back to prehistoric times. Physiologically we are still designed as hunters and gatherers. The fat cells in men are larger and more metabolically active. They release fat into the bloodstream easily to provide energy for “hunting”.

The fat carried around the belly is like the “spare pack of sandwiches” that they take with them hunting. However, men of today are carrying around a full buffet!! This energy storage on the belly has built up because men don’t physically hunt anymore. Males don’t go out spearing pizzas; they come to the door with one phone call.

Because this abdominal fat is easily released into the blood stream and may not be burnt off during hunting or exercising, it is left floating around the blood vessels clogging up the arteries. This leads to heart disease and is linked with hypertension and late onset of diabetes.

Men suffer twice the mortality rate from coronary heart disease than pre-menopausal woman. Women do catch up after menopause as lower levels of oestrogen no longer play a protective role and fat is redistributed around the belly.

It is this abdominal fat that is the most dangerous fat as it represents fat around the internal organs. A big belly is like a “time bomb” ready to be detonated.

Women seem to carry fat around the hips and thighs. Fat is carried there to supply energy for nine months of pregnancy. So in reproductive terms, women need enough energy for nine months, where men only need enough energy for a couple of minutes – and that’s on a good night!!

Fat stored on the hips and thighs, unlike abdominal fat, is very safe fat. No woman has ever died from having big hips. Big hips alone are not a health hazard. The fat cells are smaller and more resistant to releasing fat into the blood stream. This is to ensure that there is enough energy for reproduction as women are preservers of life. It also means that according to nature, women are supposed to carry fat on the hips and thighs and the body will resist losing fat from these spots.

Women’s fat cells and metabolism are very sensitive to times of difficulty such as famine or diet (same thing really). This means that if the body is in either state it will slow down to compensate. Try to keep the muscle you have and you will become a fast fat-burning machine... Just like men!!
